We are 1 ESO students at S. Jose School Patricia, Icía, Lucía, Iván and Alejandro, we are going to tell you about the climate, the wildlife, the typical food, the important places, the important people and some more interesting information about South Africa. We hope you like it.
South Africa, officially Republic of South Africa is a sovereign African country whose form of government is a parliamentary republic. Its territory is divided into 9 provinces. South Africa is one of the most diverse and interesting countries in the world. Tourists flock to South Africa for its natural beauty, wildlife and sunshine.
CLIMATE:


South Africa's climate is mild and pleasent, with beautiful sunny days for most of the year, but without the stifling heat  presented by other African countries. In the south and the highlands the climate is mild, while in the northnis subtropical, with higher humidity and higher temperatures and in the western part of the interior is semiarid.
WILDLIFE:


The native vegetation of South Africa varies from one region to another depending on the rainfall. Where rain is torrential, tropical rainforests are found where there is a lot of palm tres; along this region's  forests composed of species of hardwood trees such as cedar.
South Africa is a natural Paradise consisting of numerous natural landscapes wildlife. In these natural areas there are over 300 different species of land mammals. Also there are leopards, rhinos, lions and buffalos. Most of the South African wildlife lives in hunting preserves.
TYPICAL FOOD:


The food of South Africa is the result of the presence of countries such as Portugal, The Netherlands, Malaysia, Germany, France, India and England.
The national dish is boerewors: a spicy sausage found in all food stalls around the country.
Another typical dish is the bobotie: sweet meat pie with raisins and other dried fruit, eggs baked on top. "Served with yellow rice and garnish with banana, walnuts and sour preserves of fruit and sour preserves of fruits and vegetables". Then we have the biltong: a snack of dried and salted meat. Another dish are the heads of rams. Finally there are the South Africans picarones called koeksisters: interlaced sticks of fried dough soaked in a sweet, sticky syrup.
IMPORTANT PEOPLE:


Nelson Mandela was a South African lawyer, politican, leader of the African National Congress. He was born the 18 of July the 1918, in Mvezo. Mandela is a very important person because he defended black people and he was imprisioned for 27 years. Also, he was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative multiracial election.
IMPORTANT PLACES:


Cape Town is a city with which you begin your trip to South Africa. It is one of the most exciting places you can visit in a lifetime. The city background is the magestic Table Mountain atop wich is the Table Mountain National Park. There are many mountain excursions and on its slopes. The city is the heart of the Cape Floral Región, a place wich was declared a World Heritage Site.
Visit Robben Island is like a pilgrimage for many tourists. The island prision was the detention of some of the most popular fighters against apartheid, the system of segregation that separted people by their color. The most famous prisioner in jail won the Nobel Award, Dr. Nelson Mandela.
One of the most important places for the permanent features offered on wildlife is the Kruger National Park. It is also the oldest national park in Africa. Not only can you see the big animals up close, but the park is a great place for it breathtaking scenery.
